On the evening of February 23, 2023, Soca songstress Patrice Roberts became the first female soca artiste to perform at Raptors Caribbean Night. Donned in Trinidad and Tobago’s national colours, Patrice performed center court in the Scotiabank Arena. Some, 21 000 spectators were present at the Toronto Raptors VS New Orleans Pelicans game. Those present were amped to celebrate the Caribbean at the Raptors Caribbean Night.

Patrice’s six-minute performance according to her felt “surreal”. She shares candidly; “I was extremely nervous because I wanted to give my best and represent well for Soca, Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean”. The support leading up to her performance to the present moment has been overwhelmingly positive. “My heart is full of gratitude, I cried tears of joy and I’m happy because I have worked really hard to get here” she adds. Additionally, Patrice extends her gratitude to “the Toronto Raptors and everyone involved for including me in the Caribbean Night.”

Patrice and her team are working around to clock to strengthen her brand and introduce her to international markets. A recent feature on Grammy.com reinforces to Patrice that she is on the right track to breaking down barriers.
